I looked at the diff, and a simple 3.6.7 upload will almost certainly get a
'no' from the release team. There are rather large (in the diff) changes to
fix the build on solaris (which obviously isn't relevant) and to fix the build
against cups 1.6 (which isn't in debian). The other changes also look
complicated. A simple review of the code by someone who is not familiar with
samba code doesn't give a real indication that the changes "won't break"
anything.

Are there specific fixes you think we should try to 'backport'?

Well, I think it's impossible for the release team to start giving broad
exceptions to some packages and not to others...

I think using an 'experimental' branch for packages in experimental is the
best way. But I don't really feel that strongly about it.
