[Pkg-samba-maint] Debconf BoF notes

As promised:

Only one samba package with default running in file and print server
mode. Have an option to setup ad-dc optionnally (current
code)....warning this is a one-way change (no possibility to go back).


init scripts: we need different scripts for smbd, nmbd, samba, but
also have a general "something" that's called "samba", from the view
of upstart jobs, systemd, init... Steve worked on the proof of
concept. what we have in master can be built with 3.6.18 and uploaded
to unstable

libraries and dependencies brokeness. Upstream already made the decision of which are public and
private through the install path. Steve OK to have a look are package
interdependencies and fix that. Jeroen looks at which libs are private
and which arent. Once done, we gather all private ones into a
"samba-libs" package....or maybe samba-libs-common, samba-libs-client,
samba-libs-server (to follow the way we split binaries currently)

Upgrade issues from wheezy? Running the testsuite? Can be disabled
with dh variable. Jeroen tries to get this working. Ivo thinks about a
test suite in some way.

Blockers for unstable upload.
- fix init system
- NOT the ad-dc configuration (upgrades from the experimental samba
pkgs should be OK)
- what to do with samba-ad-dc binary package? We indeed merge
(Conflicts/Replaces) it into samba. So....we do nothing


Drop Sesse, Noel from Uploaders? Let's confirm with them and add Ivo
et eventually Jeroen.
