Given it would attempt to edit the smb.conf file, I think it is safe to
say that it conflicts.  We with it were stand-alone, and not using our
libs etc, as then we could just set it free to live/die on it's own, but
sadly that's just not the case.

Even the password change bit will break, because we moved the passdb.tdb
around. 

The only reason it won't go away due to library deps is that it's
statically linked right now.
