Thanks for the feedback, and sorry again for the misunderstanding.  

(I had incorrectly read your earlier comments as being that the 4.4.0
packaging was OK, but the git history was an issue, so I spent much of
yesterday fighting to get a clean git history with 4.4.0 merged in).
