All I know is that samba stopped working during the upgrade. If you
think you need that, I can rebuild the history of updates.

Yes, that's it. Unfortunately, no messages nor logs pointed me to that.
I suggest that the upgrade procedure should check for the presence of
that parameter and refuse upgrade if it finds it.

Yes. As suggested by the docs, I substituted it with
security = user
map to guest = Bad User
