Hi Mathieu and Debian Samba Maintainers,

This is Pavel from Samba team. We recently released a new version of
cifs-utils 6.9 which contains some features that are important to
Azure Files:

https://git.samba.org/?p=cifs-utils.git

The list of important features from 6.9:

- mounting share snapshots with GMT token (currently only SMB
100-nanoseconds time is supported which isn't convenient and
straightforward) and capability to list snapshots (through new smbinfo
utility),
- automatic DNS resolution on reconnect when the server IP changes
(without the need to re-mount a share),
- improved and fixed setcifsacl and getcifsacl utilities.

Currently Debian has the old version 6.8 even in sid and Ubuntu seems
to just copy what Debian has. We would like to have the latest version
of cifs-utils available on both Debian and Ubuntu, so their users can
have the best experience with Azure Files and other SMB servers.

Do you have any timeline when the latest versions of packages are
usually picked up to sid?

Best regards,
Pavel Shilovsky
