Bug#572420: Please change this bug to libsdl1.2debian

Thanks, Peter.

I'm a sys-admin. That means I'm expert in different things than a
developer would be. So I hope you understand when I say that this
description is a bit sketchy from my point of view.  (-;

I understand that "under debian unstable" means I have to install Sid
on the G3. Simple sys-admin stuff. I can do that.

I understand that "Install a SDL app" means I have to find a SDL app
(got a suggestion? I don't even know what SDL stands for...) then use
"aptitude install" on it. If there are configuration options that
need specifying, I'll need help on that.

"Confirm that it crashes" means that I have to run it. I'll probably
need help on that -- or at least a pointer to a man page I can read.

Similarly, I'll need to install Sid on a G4 -- no problem there.

Downloading the debian source for libsdl1.2 using "apt-get source" is
something I can probably find documentation for on my own, but a
pointer would be helpful.

Applying the patch using dpkg-buildpackage is deep developer magic.
I'll need instructions for that.

Using "script" or similar tools is second-nature to a sys-admin. No
problem there.

Install the newly built package on the G4 and the G3 is, I assume,
just a matter of "dpkg -i", so I should be able to handle that, unless
there are configuration options I need information on -- see above re:
"aptitude install".

"Run it to confirm whether the crash is fixed" should be just like
"confirm that it crashes" above. Should be no problem if we get this
far.

Would it be helpful if I set up an account for you on the machines
after I've installed Sid on them?

Enjoy!

Rick
