You mean that the .tar.gz is based on VCS's snapshot of Feb 20th?

I don't have any indication that the current one is any better, just
only that there are changes in the respository after that, and I was
wondering if there was a reason behind the decision of the date.

(In any case, it is OK for me and I don't have any suggestion -- I was
just wondering).
