This bugs concerns stable release (squeeze), not wheezy.
Moreover, you mention that you cannot build this package. This is surprising
since build logs in clean chroot [1] mentions that libncurses5-dev is dragged
in (albeit with an indirect build-dependency).
Are you building this package on a pristine squeeze system ?
