Well, here are the instructions:
Get http://files.dinknetwork.com/dmod/etrnscd0.dmod
It's a bzip2'd tar archive. Unpack it.
copy save4.dat into the new directory etrnscd0
run freedink -w -g etrnscd0
Select continue and the (only) save file there is.

Now you should be in front of a cave. :-)
I don't think it helps much, though.
