True enough. I had also thought about it had discarded it because I
didn't see how this would satisfy all possible user groups:
* those who do not have root privileges
* those who have them but want to execute a scan without root
* those who want to execute nmap as root
Now I thought about this a bit more and came up with the idea of an
extra button "Scan (root)". I implemented it and played with it a
bit. I think it works reasonably well so I created a pull request
upstream: https://github.com/nmap/nmap/pull/1010
Let's see if upstream likes that.
