Point taken. As my arguments weren't very solid, I tend to now think
that having pwconv creating shadow as root.shadow is better.
Please continue bringing input, people. Especially, Tomasz, your
thoughts about doing such a change upstream (and thus imact all
environments which use shadow) or keeping it Debian-specific....or, of
course, not doing it at all.
As one may see, this change, and probably other changes we will find
in further bug triage, is likely to have some great impact on the
whole distribution.
So, we will probably need, at some moment, to call for input either in
debian-devel (with a huge risk of a flamewar and no real conclusion)
or to the Technical Comittee.
I will then inaugurate an new pseudo tag named [DEBIAN DECISION] to
mark bugs for which we will need external input and a kind of general
consensus among fellow Debian developers to take a decision.
