There is the 008_su_add_GNU_options (the number may change in the future)
patch in Debian, which adds GNU su options using getopt.
However, this patch also changes other parts, which you may not want.

It is just a notice. If you want to work on this point, you may be
interested to take a look at it. Otherwise, I may try to split it even
more.
