Fellows, yesterday, I have populated/reorganised the CVS repository we
have for the shadow package development on alioth.debian.org
Those of you who had a local copy are advised to drop it and
re-checkout. Sorry for the trouble.
basically, you'll find there:
sarge/=A0: the current copy of the whole source tree for the package
which is currently in sarge. This is the copy we will continue to
maintain the package from, with the release of sarge in mind
sid/ =A0: only a debian/ directory. This should be applied to genuine
4.0.3 sources. This should produce the very same package
than what's currently in the sarge/ branch
All Debian specific changes have been moved in dpatch patches
in debian/patches.
The idea here is examining them all with the intent to decide
whether they are still relevant for 4.0.7 (or further)
sources. As far as I have seen up to now, several patches
here are either no more relevant (l10n, man pages) because we
know they have already been integrated upstream......or
outdated because upstream has obviously made the same
or similar changes in sources.
The goal here is to make some triage in these patches, one
by one.
We will probably need another "branch" for an experimental package of
shoadow 4.0.7. This will be the place where we will move Debian
specific patches, one by one, when triaging from the sid branch.
I have not used real CVS branches because this would currently add
more complication to the process and I don't want to waste time in
understanding branching (please don't try to sell me svn, arch or
whatever fancy revision control system....this is not the appropriate
time now).
So, at this moment, please sync with this and tell me about your
feelings.
Thanks for your attention.
