Thanks for the useful summary. Given that Thomasz, upstream author of
shadow, now follows the Debian package bug reports, I guess he will
follow your suggestions (as far as I can see from his CVS, the
discrepencies are in upstream as well, hence tagging this bug report).

I guess this will be fixed when we will sync back with upstream, which
is of course a post-sarge issue.

Thomasz, could you please just ACK this so that I can tag the bug as
"forwarded to upstream author"? If you want to establish work methods
for such bugs coming from the Debian BTS and fit them nicely with your
own way to deal with bug reports on shadow, please feel free to
mention this. I would prefer any method involving not being online
because I use to make my daily work on Debian packages with no net
connection but, well, I'll deal with it if that's not possible.
