I have backported the fix to 4.0.3 and commited it in both branches in
our CVS:

-sarge: directly as a new usermod.8 file and then regenerated the fr/
directory in man

-sid: as debian/patches/312...

(The 3xx series of patches are fixed-upstream patches which we will
not need to reapply when we will resync with upstream)
