clone 388586 -1
retitle -1 login: /usr/bin/X11 is no longer needed in default PATH
reassign -1 login
thanks

The following report was submitted against "general" and later reassigned
to base-files, but it is also present in the login package:

My plan for this bug is to change the default /etc/profile for etch,
as this file is only installed by base-files in the initiall install
(made by debootstrap from debian-installer).

For the login package, you might want to add a dependency or a conflict
to ensure that you only use the new default if you actually upgraded
to the latest X packages which do not use /usr/bin/X11 anymore.

Or maybe you might want to wait for etch to be released before doing
anything (I'm thinking about the possible ways in which an upgrade
from sarge to etch might fail).

[ After etch is released, we can even consider dropping the PATH completely
from the default /etc/profile, as this is an often requested change ].

Thanks.
