[Pkg-shadow-devel] Bug#552006: passwd: useradd fails with long lines in /etc/group

Package: passwd
Version: 1:4.1.1-6
Severity: important

Add a line longer than 8196 (!) byte in /etc/group. Then run:
# groupadd zzz
# useradd -g zzz zzz
useradd: unknown group zzz

The problem is critical because several packages fail to install/update when they create new users/groups in postinst.
The problem did not seem to occur in Debian etch.
