Note that for my own 2.1 SP packages I also "backported" xerces 2.8,
since it's the recommended version (cf.
https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/OpenSAML/Xerces-C )
But of course Scott knows all the gory details about that, and if 2.7
is a good choice or not.
