"To guarantee an upgrade path from stable+backports to the next stable, the
package should be in testing.."
So, the preconditions are o.k.

Well, most of the administrators don't like to maintain systems with mixed
distribution sources (apart from backports of course). It's what I mentioned
in my mail on 2.4.2009:

Yes, of course and one has to think twice about where to invest the time.
I'd be really happy to see lenny-backports for the Shib SP 2.1. And I think
people will appreciate that.
