Yup, I use it some other packages, and both approaches seems to have
their merits, and you can easily work around all (mis)features of each
system.  I'm not arguing to change any existing package, but for new
packages I prefer to adopt the debian/-only approach as it seems
esthetically more pleasing to me.

Did you talk to Laszlo about socket-wrapper and resolv-wrapper?  They
are all similar to each other and I think they would benefit from
team-maintenance.  I'll reach out to him after I've had a look at
nss/pam-wrapper (which may take a while since the priv/uid-wrapper work
took a bit more time than I expected it to).
