Hi Eric,

sudo maintainer and a relatively new member of the sssd team here.

If I understand correctly, this bug is about sudo breaking because the
on-disk /etc/sudoers file is no longer honored once libsss-sudo is
installed and thus, for example, the sudo privilege for members of the
sudo group does no longer apply.

If that is so, from my sudo maintainer point of view this is very much
a grave bug since libsss-sudo breaks unrelated software, namely, here,
sudo.

Here is git blame of this file:
f4a88568ff (Timo Aaltonen 2026-02-13 12:33:45 +0200 1) sudoers databas>
becf043d4c (Gioele Barabucci 2022-12-29 14:28:59 +0100 2)
becf043d4c (Gioele Barabucci 2022-12-29 14:28:59 +0100 3) sudoers last sss
and I am putting both comitters on the cc list.

Can we please discuss solutions to get this bug out of the way? What
would happen if we just applied the proposed solution, adding "files" to
the file?

Greetings
Marc
