Please beware that Debian-Live possibly produces a slightly *different* 
system than debian-installer from the official netinst image.

It would be helpful if you could try repeat this issue using a 
conventionally bootstrapped Debian system, to ensure that you are not 
really chasing bugs¹ in Debian-Live or your use of that tool.

¹ or let's call them "peculiarities" instead, to sidestep the more 
fundamental question of what constitutes "a Debian system".
