First of all: Sorry I didn't find time to reply to your previous related 
email sent discretely to me.  I receive quite a lot of email, and it is 
more efficient to contact teams rather than individuals whereever 
possible.  Even better for matters like this tied to a specific package 
is to file a bugreport against said package: 
https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting

On a related note: Please consider in future to send only to the list - 
i.e. only cc me or other individuals discretely if you suspect that our 
mailinglist is not working and you cannot reach listmasters either. I've 
dropped cc'ed people that are known to be subscribed to the list.

If you are interested in packaging this officially for Debian (that'd be 
great!) then I hope others in the team can help look into what failed in 
your own attempts. Personally I have currently too much on my plate to 
help guide you, unfortunately.
