Thanks for nudging, and for your patch.

I am a bit puzzled, however: It seems from 
https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=squeak-vm that the 
package no longer fails to build from source.

Does that mean newer compilers magically handle this correctly so the 
patch is not needed, or perhaps - more worrisome - that newer compilers 
still lead to wrong code but no longer fails?
