Given that both options need to be carried along until the paths are
unified (if ever), I’d prefer option b since then we have a patch file
which can be clearly labeled. With option a, it would be less obvious
why we need the additional build-dependencies. Technically, they are not
that much different, so I’d go with option b for clarity’s sake.
