Please show me the output of

  systemctl status -l kdm.service

(as root) to see what's going wrong. It might be named slightly
differently -- check "systemctl --failed" for which units didn't
start, kdm should be amongst them.

No, that should be unrelated. If AppArmor isn't available it won't be
used, unless you have a unit with AppArmorProfile=.
