Package: systemd
Version: 204-6
Severity: wishlist

Dear systemd maintainers,

Background: Currently in gnome-panel we have a patch [1] that reverts the use of timedated
service, as it is currently impossible to use it without adding a hard dependency on systemd,
which we would like to avoid.

So I would like you to split datetimed (and probably some other services, like hostnamed and
localed) into a separate package. Ubuntu has done that (see [2]), so that is possible. It
would be nice if you followed the Ubuntu example (and naming), the only difference is probably
that logind should be kept as part of systemd binary package.
