Oh, I forgot to mention in my last mail: the way you'd use the new stage1 
build profile is something like:
dpkg-buildpackage -Pstage1 -d -uc -us -b
If you could put the new Build-Depends syntax into debian/control, that would 
make the -d flag unnecessary; but...  Oh, well.
