Just tried again (with two VMs):
The NFS server being a wheezy system, the client system is an up-to-date
SID system. Worked like a charm.

The client has

/etc/network/interfaces:
allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

/etc/fstab
192.168.178.86:/srv/nfs /nfs nfs auto 0 0

→ systemctl status nfs.mount nfs-common.service rpcbind.service
ifup at eth0.service
