Ok, thanks for testing. Re-assigning to acpi-support-base and merging
with the existing bug report.
This issue has been fixed in the acpi-support-base package in unstable
and should reach testing in a few day.

If you simply want to handle the power events like lid switch etc and
suspend, poweroff or hibernate, you don't need acpi-support-base and you
can safely uninstall it.

As for laptop-mode-tools, I generally don't bother installing that
package on my laptop.

There is a *lot* of documentation. It's hard to say what you are
interested in. You might have a look at

and start with the "The systemd for Administrators Blog Series".
