Alright, the journal is not truly growing without bounds. Further below, I found:

> Permanent journal is using 819.7M (max allowed 3.8G, trying to leave > 4.0G free of 6.6G available → current limit 2.6G).

So this is probably not the issue.

I then tried running journalctl --verify and got several errors:

/var/log is btrfs. Not sure who's the culprit here.


On the plus side, after running the journalctl commands from my first mail now all work.
