However, the journalctl output seems to be empty (or is it my MUA?) =>
may you please double-check that you were running this command
as root?

Also, please confirm what version of systemd you're running currently,
since at some point on this bug you said you couldn't upgrade to v215,
and I'm afraid we can't support v208 anymore.

[Then, once all the needed info is gathered, I'll leave it to people
with more expertise. /me just triaging bugs to support a bit the poor
souls who are taking too much heat.]
