I have a similar problem here.
This is a new sid install from about a month ago after a crash of my disk
holding / but reusing a LVM (over md soft. raid1) from the previous install
for the other disks.
It worked for a week or 2 then stopped.
On boot, I now get an emergency shell asking for root password, then if I just
type in /etc/init.d/lvm2 restart and leaves the shell, everything goes well.
Unlike Michael Biebl, I have the TAGS=:systemd:
let me know what other information I could provide
e.g. with one of the LVM drives
