I would guess this was introduced by
https://github.com/poettering/systemd/commit/75f86906c52735c98dc0aa7e24b773edb42ee814
This is a quite invasive patch, so it's probably not that simply to
revert in on top of v227.
Steven, we uploaded 228-1 today. It would be great if you can pull that
version from unstable (should hit the mirrors in a couple of hours).
If this version is still affected we should take this upstream I think.
