If the system freezes when loading a kernel module, this sounds like a
problem in the kernel/driver, thus re-assigning.
Maybe there is a race somewhere which is triggered under 226 but not 225.

It might help, if you add "debug" to the kernel command line and attach
the output you get to this bug report.
