Eek, indeed, thanks for reporting! Bumping severity as this is quite a
serious regression and (at least potentially) breaks package installs.

Incidentally this already got fixed in git in
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/init-system-helpers.git/commit/?id=6dd9d53f4

I'll upload this ASAP (I'm offline at the moment).
