That error message doesn't make sense.
The fstab you attached contains

> UUID=c9d2e9cb-c214-4ca0-bdc9-40d39233e700   /usr               ext4     defaults,noatime   0       2

There is no "auto" keyword there. Have you attached the correct fstab?
