Let me explain why I closed the bug report: There is a cost of not
closing bug reports, because every time you look at the bug list, you
have to scan over the complete list and skip over entries like this one.

So, while we could keep this bug report open and wontfix for all
eternity, I prefer to not do that.

I still keep wontfix bugs open for a while, so it's visible for other
users and for giving the bug reporter time to present further arguments.

In this case, we didn't have other users demand /dev/root support coming
back or Herbert presenting convincing arguments why it would be a good
idea to add it back.

So at this point, after two years, I conclude it's justified to close
and I would hope that Herbert respects this decision.

Regards,
Michael
