If I restart logind via "systemctl restart systemd-logind", my X session
is terminated on sid.

I'm curious why that is not the case for you.
Are you using Wayland (not sure if cinnamon already uses it)?

Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the
universe are pointed away from Earth?
