systemd-logind, lightdm, and a multiseat issue

Hi,

I hope this is the right place to seek help for my difficulty.

I have been a way for sometime with my desktop shutdown, and upon my
return had some trouble that I misdiagnosed and along the way I have
upgraded systemd, lightdm, dbus and xserver family of packages. My
system is a two-seated desktop that worked like that for some years. It
turns out that the issue that caused my travail was completely unrelated
to the upgrade mentioned.

But now I cannot have the second seat completely established if at all.
I.e seat0 is completely functional and seat1 shows login but the mouse
and keyboard show their effects on the display attached to seat0.

Xorg shows this troubling error:

systemd-logind: failed to get session: PID xxxxx does not belong to
     any known session

Lightdm starts the X process thus:
    /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg :0 -seat seat1 -auth /var/run/lightdm/root/:0 \
    -nolisten tcp

It seems that the issue is somewhere between systemd and the lightdm and
my question is how I can find the culprit.

Thank you...

eythan
