It is indeed reproducible easily, which is why I raised this upstream
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/11329

Other distros are affected by this as well, and even if upstream decides
this is something to clean up by the distros, other distro maintainers,
who usually follow the github bug tracker, will be notified this way.

I'll wait a couple of days and in case there is no response, I'll add
the cleanup routine to the maintainer scripts.
