All,

I think due to the complexity of this I’ll postpone
this for after bullseye. Maybe I can get my hands on
systems which Linux /dev/hwrng supports in the mean‐
time, too, and perhaps test both systemd and sysvinit
on those then (help welcome), but for now I’ll leave
this at the refactoring of the start logic. I need to
ensure a smooth transition from buster’s rng-tools,
first, anyway.

I think I’ll reference this discussion from the README.

the least painful built system i've ever seen │ honours CC, {CPP,C,LD}FLAGS
