After upgrading systemd from 249.7-1 to 250.2-1, I noticed that the tty
name would no longer be shown before the login prompt at the console,
i.e. I saw
Debian GNU/Linux bookworm/sid <hostname> -
rather than
Debian GNU/Linux bookworm/sid <hostname> tty1
before the login prompt on tty1.
This has been reported to the systemd developers, and they said it needs
to be fixed in util-linux:
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/21919
The util-linux developers have fixed the bug in commit 47831cc02ac0
("agetty: resolve tty name even if stdin is specified"), I have verified
that it applies cleanly on top of 2.37.2 and fixes the problem. :-)
