Version: 1.63
Severity: Normal
Hello Maintainers,
In the original debian/copyright file , I found some issues:
Issue 1: The debian/copyright reports incorrect copyrights as below:
Files: *
Copyright: 2013 Michael Stapelberg
License: BSD-3-clause
The correct copyright information should be:
Files: *
Copyright: 2013-2014 Michael Stapelberg <stapelberg at debian.org>
License: BSD-3-Clause
Issue 2: The debian/copyright reports incorrect licenses/copyrights as below:
Files: script/service man8/service.rst
Copyright: 2006 Red Hat, Inc
2008 Canonical Ltd
License: GPL-2+
Files: script/invoke-rc.d man8/invoke-rc.d.rst
Copyright: 2000,2001 Henrique de Moraes Holschuh <hmh at debian.org>
License: GPL-2+
Files: script/update-rc.d man8/update-rc.d.rst
Copyright: 1997-2005 Miquel van Smoorenburg <miquels at cistron.nl>
Members of the pkg-sysvinit project
License: GPL-2+
The correct licenses/copyrights information should be:
Files: script/service
script/invoke-rc.d
man8/update-rc.d.rst
man8/invoke-rc.d.rst
Copyright: 2006 Red Hat, Inc.
2008 Canonical Ltd. August 2008 - Dustin Kirkland <kirkland at canonical.com>
2013 Michael Stapelberg <stapelberg at debian.org>
2000,2001 Henrique de Moraes Holschuh <hmh at debian.org>
License: GPL-2.0+
Files: man8/service.rst
Copyright: 2006 Red Hat, Inc., Petter Reinholdtsen <pere at hungry.com>
License: GPL-2.0
I am using "dep5 report" from FOSSology to create "new copyright".
"dep5 report" merged files (are same licenses) to a paragraph automatically.
I changed some license names (e.g., GPL-2+ => GPL-2.0+, BSD-3-clause => BSD-3-Clause).
Because I am using license names in database from FOSSology tool.
I think that license name belongs to database of any tool.
Example: FOSSology and debmake tools use license "GPL-2.0+", while licensecheck tool use license "GPL-2+".
Moreover, I dropped information of "File: debian/*". Because I didn't find any license in files from debian folder.
I am using the results of FOSSology tool to replace the original debian/copyright.
I'd like to send you the original debian/copyright, new debian/copyright at the attachment.
If you have any comment/suggestion about my changes, Please let me know.
Thanks.
