The problem is in the last command, instead you need to use something
like:

for k in /boot/vmlinuz-* ; do
 [ -f "$k" ] || continue
 ver=$(basename "$k" | sed s/^vmlinuz-//)
 kernel-install add "$ver" "$k"
done
