This just took a bunch of servers offline at work, seriously harming the 
reputation of Debian and letting our management questioning further 
contributions on behalf of worktime.

The oneline-fix for it is trivially cherry-pickable and should be 
applied asap in trixie.

Luca: Given the impact of this and the feedback you got, did you 
reconsider and are you going to do it and when are you going to do it,
or should I go forward and do it?
