I have no problem with modifying the code to allow a size parameter,
but as long as only root can create files, I am not very worried.

Only /dev/shm/ and /var/lock/ is available for normal users.

Patches are most welcome.  I will look more into sysvinit tomorrow.
Next on my agenda is the creation of /lib/init/rw/, and modifying
checkroot.sh to use it.
