[Pkg-sysvinit-devel] Bug#433119: NFS4 Client mounts fail because server thinks rpc.idmapd isn't started

Message on server is:

nfsd: nfsv4 idmapping failing: had idmapd not been
started?

It certainly has been started. Two times in fact, if
'/etc/network/if-up.d/mountnfs' is to be believed.
Originally the only start for nfs-common was in
'/etc/rcS.d/S44nfs-common'. After seeing the failure
I added a link '/etc/rc2.d/S20nfs-common' and still
got the error even though I was seeing the 'starting'
message twice.

The current workaround I have is to put
'/etc/init.d/nfs-common restart' in '/etc/rc.local'.

This is a very high impact problem, daily backups have
been missed because of it and it's really a pain
having to spend the day trying to debug something that
has been working for over a year.
