Hi Miquel van Smoorenburg, Petter Reinholdtsen, and
Henrique de Moraes Holschuh,

while considering Bug#107713 the idea came up to move the
logrotating for wtmp and btmp into sysvinit-utils (because
it has some other tools related to these logs).

After thinking it over, the stuff that sysvinit-utils
would need to do is quite simple:

- Provide /etc/logrotate.d/sysvinit-utils
(I can create it easily for you, if you want me to)
- Recommend: logrotate
Recomming should be enough, as we currently have no
system dependency on logrotate from any other parts, and
I don't see a reason to start this.
- POSSIBLY:
  Conflicts: logrotate (<< LogRotateVersionWithoutUtmpRotation)
But as far, as I can see, this shouldn't be needed
anyway, as logrotate's config entries override each
  other.

For logrotate the thing is just the other way around:
- Remove the entries for the two files from
  /etc/logrotate.conf
- Recommends: sysvinit-utils (>= VersionWithRotate)
- Really no conflict needed.

What do you think?

    Elrond
